lyrics

I wrote this track both as a memorial to those affected by the 1945 nuclear attacks on Japan, and a protest at my own government's desire to replace its Trident nuclear weapon system. The musical elements of the track are sampled from Japanese folk music, and the vocal sample is a clip of anti-nuclear Scottish MP George Kerevan asking new UK prime minister Theresa May whether she was actually prepared to launch a nuclear weapon capable of killing 100,000 innocent people. Her answer; a chilling yes. I think it's a tragedy that the lessons of 1945 have not been learned by politicians over 70 years later, and that our government thinks it's more important for our country to have the capability to commit mass murder than to invest in public health and social welfare. I hope this compilation does something to raise awareness of the tragedy of nuclear warfare.

Count Vanderhoff (NIDALI Records)

Count Vanderhoff hails from Exeter in the South West of the UK. Introduced to rave music by his older syblings at an early age, he started DJing and producing in 2003.
His first gig was at Evolution in Exeter’s legendary Cavern Club in 2005, and he went on to co-run the night for several years, playing alongside cutting edge dnb and jungle artists such as Ray Keith, John B, Fanu and Bong Ra.
A few years ago he discovered the footwork scene through a mixtape and was instantly drawn to the futuristic rhythms and soulful melodies. He released his first EP, Only When I’m Dreaming, in early 2016. This EP gained the interest of established footwork producer bahnhof::zoo who asked him to join his label, Nidali Records. Following a remix of bahnhof::zoo’s single Ridin’ High, Vanderhoff’s first solo EP for Nidali is due out in Autumn 2016.
